Trentemøller Announces New Album Due in September
It’s the Danish artist’s first longplayer in three years
Danish artist Trentemøller is to release Obverse, his first album in three years, on Friday 27 September. It will come on his own In My Room label and was initially conceived as an instrumental album but has since been fleshed out with female vocalists such as Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, Warpaint’s Jenny Lee Lindberg (jennylee) and Lisbet Fritze.
You can watch a video for entrancing new single In The Garden below, which is one of a few short films the Dane has made for the album himself. It suggests the record overall will be another moody fusion of emo guitars, shoe-gaze ambiance, dark pop and Kosmische, perfect for misty autumnal walks and winter nights by the fire.
“I have always worked with contrasts in my music and in my sound,” says Trentemøller of his creative process. “It’s in the subtle clashes of feelings and tonal contradictions that I often find pure inspiration. Obverse was always going to be about exploring the possibilities in my studio, with no consideration of how it could be performed on a stage, and it was completely liberating.”
