Charlotte de Witte Announces New Label
The first release is slated for September
Belgian artist Charlotte de Witte is one of a clutch of women who have broken through and proved that it isn’t only men who can serve up punishing techno. Her uncompromisingly dark, shadowy sounds have taken her to headline slots around the world, and she’s released some key EPs on labels like Mute and Mary Go Wild.
Now she is stepping out on her own with a new label, KNTXT, which is also the name of the radio show and party concept she has been touring round Europe.
The first release on KNTXT is slated for September, with de Witte claiming the label will be “a place to shine the light on the music that I love and a home for my own productions”. She added the label also planned to work with artists with experience and others who are just starting out, “but all of whom represent a sound that I really love”.
Between now and the end of the year, the KNTXT party will host at Tomorrowland, Awakenings and Sportpaleis Antwerp, where Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock play a rare back-to-back on 16 November.
