Trick or Treat: It’s the Cityfox Halloween Festival
Expect more than 15 acts across two blocks in Brooklyn
It’s no secret that our American cousins like to go big at Halloween. Proof in point: the Cityfox Halloween Festival, which returns to Brooklyn’s Avant Gardner complex for a fearsome 12-hour session well worth sinking your teeth into.
Curated by The Cityfox Experience and billed as New York’s biggest Halloween underground dance music party, more than 15 acts will play across eight interactive rooms and five stages sprawling across the entirety of the Avant Gardner complex. Kicking off at 9pm on Saturday, 26 October, ghoulish clubbers can look forward to exploring a sprawling haunted indoor playground with chill-out lounges and interactive environments.
Music-wise, it’s pretty killer too. Highlights include a live set from Hamburg-based Stimming, whose summer track The Gift That Never Stops To Give was handpicked by Sven Väth for this year’s Cocoon Compilation S. The producer also recently filmed and episode of Plugged In for Beatport, where he discusses the hardware he favours in his live set-up. Watch it here.
Also performing live is Berlin-based guitar-wielding singer-songwriter Monolink, whose 2018 debut album Amniotic was met with critical acclaim around the world, and Italian multi-instrumentalist composer Giorgia Angiuli, armed with her recently released You Shine EP. There’s live action too from Brazilian genius Gui Boratto, who teamed up with Robert Babicz earlier this year for Human, Danish trio WHOMADEWHO bring their unique jazz, rock, classical, dance fusion and you can find out why Bedrock boss John Digweed is so enamoured with Dance Spirit.
Leading the DJ charge with their hypnotic blend of melodic house is All Day I Dream boss Lee Burridge, who released his collaborative debut album Melt with Lost Desert this past summer, and native Brooklyn duo Bedouin. No.19 co-founder Art Department also returns to deliver another driving set along with deep house don and Do Not Sit On The Furniture founder and Behrouz, while renowned German selector DJ Hell makes his Avant Gardner debut.
Throw in a custom KV2 sound system, plus jaw-dropping 3-D projection mapping, lasers and pyrotechnics, and this Halloween bash is indeed the monkey’s nuts.
