Epic Pool Parties Turn Up the Miami Heat

Heavyweight club brands sign up for WMC 2020 poolside series

With the countdown to Miami Winter Music Conference 2020 underway, the Epic Pool Parties crew are turning up the heat. After their debut series at the Kimpton Epic Hotel last year, they return to the downtown hotel’s 16th floor pool deck for a run of six parties.

Kings of House – with a six-hour back-to-back set from undisputed masters Louie Vega and David Morales – officially kicks off this year’s WMC on Tuesday 17 March. Skream has been confirmed as a special guest for the Amnesia Presents Do Not Sleep party the following day, along with Sidney Charles, Ilario Alicante, Luigi Madonna and more, and then it’s the turn of Sven Väth’s world-renowned Cocoon party to tear it up poolside with Carl Craig, Matthias Tazmann, Matador, Yousef and more.

Label boss Lee Foss has invited a merry band of label pals along to play at his 11-hour Repopulate Mars party on Friday 20 March, including Mark Kinchen, Richy Ahmed, Huxley, Latmum, Mason Maynard, Detlef and Solardo. Part boutique festival, part record label and part globetrotting party brigade, the Desert Hearts gang take control on Saturday 21 March, and Sunday’s finale – Nothin But An Old School Pool Party – another absolute belter, featuring Kenny Dope's only WMC appearance, Jazzy Jeff, Questlove, Todd Terry and Eli Escobar.

What’s more, there’s no telling just who will drop by. “An unplanned set by David Guetta and Diplo’s unannounced set for Repopulate Mars were definitely amongst last year’s highlights,” says co-promoter Jonathon Cowan from Epic and Jonathan Cowan Productions, who was convinced to “come out of retirement” by hotel management last year.

“After a hiatus from producing WMC events it was quite a thrill to partner with the Kimpton Epic last year to produce their WMC programme,” laughs Jonathan. “It was a huge success and I’m super excited as we work hard behind the scenes on year two.”

A six-day pass to the Epic Pool Parties series is a steal at $150 (limited offer), while hotel guests can enjoy free entry for two if they book a room and free entry for four if they book a suite. Find full listings, tickets and room rates info here.

Rebooted in 2019 and celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, the Winter Music Conference takes place at Miami’s Faena Forum, from 16 – 19 March. “WMC, under the watch of David Ireland, has completely reinvented itself,” reckons Miami-resident Jonathan. “Through legendary panels, amazing workshops and with a proper hotel pool, it really feels like a throwback to yesteryear conferences at the Fontainebleau while tackling issues pertinent to today’s electronic music scene.”
