Maceo Plex Unveils New M3 Live Project
It combines three of his aliases into one “extraordinary” show
Cuban-American artist Maceo Plex plans to roll all three of his electronic aliases into one new project called M3. His M3 show will debut at Factory 93, at El Pueblo Historical Monument, Los Angeles, on Saturday 14 March. The show will take fans through a myriad of evolving shapes, structures, visuals and music that pushes technological as well as sonic boundaries. It will also feature lasers and a live interactive holographic performance designed to warp space and time.
To date, the Ellum Audio boss, Drumcode, Afterlife and Correspondent associate has made astral techno as Maceo Plex, darker techno – primarily in his earlier years before he found global fame – as Maetrik, and experimental IDM and electro as Mariel Ito.
“I guarantee this will be my masterpiece in visual and audio aesthetics,” says Maceo Plex, who promises the M3 show will be a multidimensional sensual experience that takes inspiration from all facets of his sound.
Late last year the Barcelona-based DJ donated a load of production tools to Bridge_48, a music production complex within the city. The Maceo Plex studio there now boasts his synths, speakers, drum machines and other bits of kit that helped him create his tracks like Solitary Daze, Conjure Dreams and Solar Detroit.
At the time, the DJ and producer said the studio gear was available “to help aspiring new producers or anyone needing some inspiration”. He added he was “excited to hear some new sounds” from his trusted synths.
