New London Venue Werkhaus has Opened on Brick Lane
The intimate space is in the Truman Brewery complex
There have been plenty of sobering stories about London venues closing but Werkhaus is bucking that trend. It’s a new, cosy, 300-capacity space on Brick Lane that shuns glossy VIP spaces and superstars DJs in favour of a rawer, back-to-basics approach with a focus on exciting emerging talents from the local area and wider afield.
The industrial space has two room set-ups and will offer live, club and art-focused events on its Funktion One sound system.
“London’s music scene has gone back to its roots and we wanted to create a space for the innovative, boundary-pushing artists who represent the fabric of what’s emerging,” explains Events Manager Sean Hitchings.
Upcoming November events include a Halloween special, on Saturday, 2 November, with hot young Manchester crew Mason Collective and Joe Ellis; techno party Minimal Force welcomes Seytek (live) on Sunday, 10 November; and the London Promoters’ Society Meet-up is scheduled for Tuesday, 26 November.
