Wrap Your Ears Around Yousef’s Remarkable New Album
Liverpudlian DJ and producer channels turbulent youth into longplayer
We’re loving the new “autobiographical” album from Circus Recordings boss and all-round top bloke Yousef. Out on 16 August, 9 Moor Drive, sees the DJ, producer and Circus events promoter turn memories of “a difficult 10-year period” of his life into a fantastic collection of 13 tracks. Named after the address of his Liverpool family home, the album spans lush orchestral sounds, old school house with a modern touch and driving techno, and it’s been on repeat here at iamCrü since it landed in our mucky mitts.
“It isn’t a bleeding-heart story about hard times or anguish,” stresses Yousef. “It’s about dealing with life’s difficulties, exploring creativity and reminiscing about my life’s defining moments. It’s the final piece in a long cathartic process about those times.”
If you’re in the Liverpool area, get yourself along to the album launch party at Palm House, on Sunday, 4 August. The latest single from the album, Give It To Me, is also released on Friday, 16 August.
