Day Zero Heads to New Location
Where’s next for Damian Lazurus’s festival?
Long obsessed with Mayan culture, shamans and desert sounds, Damian Lazarus’s Day Zero festival has been the best place to experience those things with a dance music soundtrack. It’s held in the jungle of Tulum, in Mexico, each January, but before the 2020 edition a sister event will play out in the Masada area of southern Israel’s Judaean desert.
It’s planned for 27 September right next to the Dead Sea, a richly cultural and historic area with connections to ancient civilisations and right next to the biblical ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah.
A mystical landscape will be created for the party, which will run from sun down to sun up with artists curated by Lazarus himself and plenty of organic production to make it as immersive as the original Day Zero.
